RKD Martial Arts provides Self Defence, Fitness, Muay Thai, Eskrima, Kids Parkour, and Lightsaber classes for all ages in Perth, Western Australia.

RKD Martial Arts blends the practicality of Krav Maga with a diverse array of martial arts disciplines taught in a safe and positive learning environment. Our Kids Martial Arts classes are tailored to suit the developmental stages in a child’s life. Whether its values such as discipline and respect, or skills such as balance, coordination. Our Martial Arts classes for Adults cater to people looking for self defence, or just a different form of workout for fitness.


Our dedicated facility, in Bassendean, Perth, serves as the hub for mastering self-defence. At RKD, we recognise the unique needs of individuals, especially women, and offer specialised courses tailored to women's self-defence. Our Women's Self-Defense Courses are designed to instil confidence and practical skills vital for personal safety.

The RKD Self-Defence Syllabus: A Fusion of Mastery 

Drawing from the Krav Maga Worldwide syllabus, our training emphasises effective, real-world self-defence techniques. We complement Krav Maga's strengths by incorporating diverse disciplines like Japanese Jujitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Western Boxing, Karate, Taekwondo, Ninjutsu, Kung Fu, and Eskrima (Kali/Arnis). This fusion enriches our syllabus, enhancing our stand up, grappling, and ground-based skills, and weapon defence strategies.

Meet Your head Instructor

Sensei Ryan has been training in the martial arts for over 30 years and holds the following Martial Arts Qualifications:

  • 4th Degree Black Belt in Freestyle/MMA
  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in Magkuno Diamondback Eskrima
  • 2nd Degree Black Belt in Cobra Eskrima
  • 1st Degree Black Belt in Kickboxing (World Kickboxing Association)
  • 1st Degree Black Belt (Shodan) in Ninjukai Taijutsu
  • 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate (World Karate Association)
  • Various training in other styles, including Taekwondo, Jujitsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Shaolin Kung Fu, Capoeira, Wing Chun, and Zen Do Kai.

Training at RKD: Your Path

What to expect in yyour first class. We start with a purposeful warm-up, to prepare the body, and to increase strength. Stretching follows, which is vital for flexibility in executing techniques.


Our sessions dive into martial arts training—techniques, partner drills, and scenario-based exercises, all adaptable to your skill level. No experience is needed; we'll develop your skills and fitness together.


Consistent training yields results: increased fitness, strength, confidence and skills. We emphasise practical self-defence as that is our end goal.


Whether you are completely new to martial arts or a seasoned veteran, we ensure that you will get fit, have fun, make friends, and be reasonably challenged both mentally and physically.
